Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

The Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) is a permanent residence pathway for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, a family member, or a state or territory. It is points-tested and invitation-based.

How the points test works

Points are awarded for factors including your age, English language ability, skilled work experience (in Australia and overseas), qualifications and study. You must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and be invited to apply.
